Nakheel completes design works on three 12-lane Palm Deira bridges

Master Developer Nakheel has revealed the completion of designs of the three 12-lane bridges linking Palm Deira to the mainland Deira. The bridges are worth a total of Dh.1980million.
In the meanwhile, Nakheel has entered into an alliance with the Roads and Transport Authority (RTA) Dubai, to connect the transportation network on mainland Deira to the network developed by Nakheel on Palm Deira. With similar integrated networks for the Marine and Metro transport, residents would get to enjoy the flexibility to travel around the emirates, with preferred mode of transport.
The Operations Director, Palm Deira, Abdulla Bin Sulayem, congratulated the team for completion of the design work on Palm Deira bridges to highest specifications.
"This would include installation of 44 bridges and a network of modern roads, metro and intersections and tunnels. With continued support of the RTA and Parsons group, Palm Deira will be ready to service its residents on completion," he said.
The bridge construction would be 1000 meters in length, and 15 meters in height, and the excavation of second bridge which is also1000 meters in length has already begun. The third bridge would also be about 1100 meters in length, and the construction work would commence shortly.

Construction work on Palm Deira Corniche- Phase I begins

The construction work on the first phase of Palm Deira Corniche, on the larges Palm-shaped Island, The Palm Deira, has begun and is being developed at a cost of nearly Dh.300 million.
The Corniche which is expected to be nine kilometers in length and 30 meters in width will comprise series of leisure facilities, a marina and parks. The entire development will comprise of twenty four islands that have the capacity to accommodate around 200,000 inhabitants.
Chaiman of Dubai World and Nakheel Properties, Sultan Ahma bin Sulayem, the developers of Palm Deira, said "Unique projects, such as the Palm Islands will boost the tourism industry in Dubai, and the Corniche will allow visitors and residents to enjoy better lifestyle facilities."
The project, supported by world-class infrastructure, lays emphasis on the social and economic development of Dubai. It has been designed to attract families by offering water fountains, large green open spaces, flower beds and advanced lighting system, thereby ensuring a relaxed atmosphere.
The Phase I of the project will stretch over four kilometers along the Old Deira Corniche. This will be separated by a 170 meter wide water channel from the Old Deira Corniche and the two will be inter-linked by a two-way passage for pedestrians and vehicles.
The Palm Deira Executive Director - Operations, Abdullah Bin Sulayem, said "The Corniche which spreads over five million square meters comprises about eleven percent of the total project of Palm Deira. This will be developed in multiple phases and each phase will have several stages. We are currently constructing the Stage I of the first phase that is 900 meters in lenth, facing Hyatt Regency Complex. The work is likey to be complete by this December."

Palm Deira project plan revised

Nakheel, the developers of the building Palm Deira has revised their building plan, releasing a new masterplan, which is believed to save construction time and money. The length of the island that stretches off the Dubai coast, has been reduced by 3.5 kilometres (now 12.5kms) compared to the original design. The width however remains unaltered at 7.5kms.
The land mass of the palm will now be six million Sq. Mts., more than that originally envisaged. The palm, which will be seven-and-a-half times bigger than the Palm Jumeirah, will be the biggest man made island on completion. The Palm Deira Operations Officer, Abdullah bin Sulavem, has mentioned that, as the depth of the Arabian Gulf increases substantially moving further away from Dubai’s coastline, this leads to considerable savings on construction time and sand volume.
The new plan also includes creation of nine different areas, five islands forming the massive corniche – Deira, North, South, Central and Al Mamzar, which will link to the main Palm Trunk, Palm Crown, Palm Crescent and Palm Fronds.
Deira Island, the Phase one of the project, will form the entrance to the whole development and will be connected to the Deira district by bridges running across Port Hamriya and Dubai Creek.
Transport links will be integrated with current road networks and Dubai Metro, which is under construction. The entire reclamation work, which is running as per schedule is due for completion by 2013. The Palm Deira, on completion, is expected to be a “feather in the crown” for Nakheel.
